Australia's National Minimum Wage is $24.10 per hour (from 1 July 2025), applying to all award-covered and national system employees. The minimum annual salary for full-time workers (38 hrs/week) is approximately $47,548.
From 1 July 2025, employers must contribute 12% of an employee's ordinary time earnings (OTE) into their nominated super fund. Super is paid on top of salary unless your contract states it is included in a total package.
Australian employers commonly pay weekly, fortnightly, or monthly. Fortnightly is most common. The Fair Work Act requires wages be paid at least monthly to full-time and part-time employees.
Casual employees receive a 25% loading on top of the base rate in lieu of entitlements like annual leave and personal leave. This is included in most Modern Awards and the NES.
Some awards require a 17.5% annual leave loading when employees take annual leave. This is paid on top of normal wages during leave periods.
