Sweat losses rise in hot or humid conditions even without exercise, so fluid needs increase too. There isn't a single precise, universally agreed number for how much extra hot weather requires — it depends on temperature, humidity, sun exposure, clothing, individual sweat rate, acclimatisation and body size. This calculator applies a flat 400 mL/day allowance for hot/humid conditions as MegaCalcOnline's own simplified estimation allowance — it is not a figure specifically prescribed by NASEM, NHS, EFSA, Healthdirect or CDC. NASEM sets a specific total water Adequate Intake of 3.0 litres per day during pregnancy and 3.8 litres per day while breastfeeding — both higher than the non-pregnant reference for women, reflecting increased blood volume, amniotic fluid, and (during lactation) the water content of breast milk. EFSA's approach is expressed as an increment instead: roughly +300 mL/day during pregnancy and +700 mL/day during breastfeeding, added to the standard female reference.
