Pacific Standard Time (PST) is UTC−8, used on the US West Coast outside daylight saving. During US daylight saving (roughly mid-March to early November) the zone switches to Pacific Daylight Time (PDT), UTC−7. GMT (Greenwich Mean Time) is functionally the same as UTC for conversion purposes, so "PST to UTC" and "PST to GMT" give the same answer.

What is PST in UTC or GMT?
PST (Pacific Standard Time) is UTC−8, so add 8 hours to a PST time to get UTC/GMT. During US daylight saving, the zone becomes PDT (UTC−7), so only add 7 hours. Because the offset is large, converting PST times after mid-afternoon usually rolls over to the next UTC calendar day.
What is GMT in EST?
Subtract 5 hours from a GMT time to get EST (Eastern Standard Time, UTC−5). During US daylight saving the zone becomes EDT (UTC−4), so subtract only 4 hours instead.
What time zones does Australia have?
Australia has five main time zones: AWST (UTC+8, Western Australia), ACST (UTC+9:30, NT and SA winter), AEST (UTC+10, QLD and eastern states winter), ACDT (UTC+10:30, SA summer), and AEDT (UTC+11, NSW/VIC/TAS/ACT summer). The half-hour offsets of NT and SA are unusual globally — most time zones differ by whole hours.
Does all of Australia observe daylight saving?
No. Queensland, Western Australia, and the Northern Territory do not observe daylight saving time. NSW, Victoria, Tasmania, ACT, and South Australia advance their clocks by one hour during summer (typically first Sunday in October to first Sunday in April). This creates scheduling challenges for businesses operating across QLD and NSW borders.
Why does Sydney time differ from London by a different amount at different times of year?
Because Australia and the UK have daylight saving in opposite hemispheres — Australian summer (when AEDT applies) is UK winter (GMT), and vice versa. Depending on the time of year, Sydney is either 9, 10 or 11 hours ahead of London.
